Dual layer blinds that shift from soft daylight to full privacy with a small pull. Measured, manufactured and installed by our own team here in Winnipeg.

In short. Zebra blinds, also called dual shades or day and night blinds, use two layers of fabric with alternating sheer and solid stripes. Sliding one layer over the other lets you go from an open, softly lit room to full privacy without ever taking the blind down.
A zebra blind is a single piece of fabric looped around a roller tube. The fabric alternates between a solid band and a sheer band. As you raise or lower the blind, the solid bands either line up with each other, letting light through the sheers, or line up with the sheer bands, blocking the view in.
That means one blind covers three positions most homes need. Fully open for the view. Aligned for filtered daylight with the outside still visible. Offset for privacy while the room stays bright rather than dark. It is the reason zebra blinds have become the most requested product we make.
Winnipeg gets long, low winter sun and very bright summer evenings. A blind that only opens or closes forces a choice between glare and a dark room. The middle position on a zebra blind is what solves that, and it is why we fit so many of them in west and south facing living rooms.
The sheer band controls how much light gets through when the blind is open, and the solid band controls what happens when it is closed. Lighter fabrics keep a room feeling airy and are the usual pick for living rooms and kitchens. Denser fabrics reduce more heat and glare, which matters on a south or west exposure.
For bedrooms, a zebra blind on its own will not fully black out a room, because light passes through the sheer bands and around the edges. If a dark bedroom matters to you, we will usually suggest a blackout roller blind instead, or a zebra blind layered with drapery. We would rather tell you that at the measure than have you disappointed after install.
Not sure whether zebra or roller is right for a particular room? That is exactly what the free in-home measure is for. We look at the exposure, the sightlines from the street and how you actually use the room, then recommend accordingly. There is no obligation to order.
Zebra blinds are available with a standard chain, as a cordless spring system, or motorized. Cordless and motorized options remove the hanging loop entirely, which is the safer choice in any home with young children or pets. If you want app or voice control, the same blind can be built on a motor from the start.
We are not a reseller passing your order to a factory in another province. Your zebra blinds are manufactured to the measurements we take in your home, and the same company that measured them comes back to install them. If something is not right, there is one number to call.

Zebra Blinds
Zebra BlindsIn the closed position the solid bands overlap and block the view in. With a light in the room behind them you may still see silhouettes through the fabric, which is normal for any light filtering blind. If total night privacy is the priority, a blackout roller blind or a zebra blind layered with drapery is the better choice.
Yes. We build zebra blinds on motors with remote, wall switch or app control, and they can be added to a smart home system. Motorizing also removes the chain, which is the safer option around children and pets.
