What Custom Blinds Cost in Winnipeg

An honest explanation of what moves the price, and why we do not publish a number. Every window is different, and a fixed price online means a standard size.

In short. There is no useful single price for a custom blind, because the product is built to your window. What we can do is explain exactly what moves the number up and down, so you have a sense of where your job sits before anyone visits.

The four things that actually set the price

1. Size

The biggest factor, and it is not linear. A blind twice as wide costs more than twice as much, because wider blinds need a heavier tube to stop them sagging, stronger brackets, and sometimes a different mechanism entirely. Very wide windows get built as several blinds on a shared headrail, which is more parts and more labour than one blind.

2. Fabric

The gap between an entry level plain fabric and a specialist technical or designer one is wide, and it is often the real difference between two quotes for what looks like the same blind. Blackout linings, solar control fabrics and textured weaves all sit above a basic light filtering fabric.

3. How it operates

A standard chain is the baseline. Cordless costs more. Motorized costs more again, and within motorized there is a further gap between a simple remote motor and one integrated into a smart home with a hub. Solar charging adds a panel on top of that.

4. Mount and window condition

A square window with a deep reveal is quick. A bay, an arch, a very high window, or an opening badly out of square all take longer to measure and to fit, and that shows up in the quote.

Why we do not publish prices

Because we would have to publish a price for a standard size, and we do not sell standard sizes. Any number on this page would be either meaninglessly low, so that everybody gets a shock at the quote, or high enough to put off people whose job is actually simple.

What we can promise is that the measure and the written quote are free, there is no obligation, and the number you are given is the number you pay.

Working to a budget? Say so at the measure. It is genuinely useful information rather than something to hide. We would rather fit a good light filtering roller across the whole house within your budget than a premium fabric in one room and bare glass everywhere else.

Where it is worth spending more

  • Bedrooms, where a proper blackout fabric is the difference between working and not working
  • High or hard to reach windows, where motorizing removes a daily annoyance for years
  • West facing living rooms, where a better solar fabric changes how the room feels in summer
  • Homes with young children, where cordless is a safety decision rather than a comfort one

Where it usually is not

Rooms you barely use, north facing windows that never take direct sun, and anywhere the blind will sit open permanently. A basic fabric on a chain does the job in a spare room, and that money is better spent elsewhere in the house.

Cheap blinds versus custom

A big box store blind in a standard size is genuinely cheaper, and for some windows it is the sensible answer. What you give up is the fit, the fabric range, and having someone come back if something fails. We would rather say that plainly than pretend there is no trade off.

Cost & Pricing Questions

It depends mainly on the size of the window, the fabric, and whether you want chain, cordless or motorized operation. Because every blind is made to your window there is no meaningful single price. The in-home measure and written quote are free with no obligation.

Because the honest answer depends on measurements nobody has taken yet. Anyone quoting a firm price over the phone is quoting a standard size, which is a different product to a made to measure blind.

They are a meaningful step up from a chain, and within motorized there is a further gap between a simple remote and full smart home integration. Whether it is worth it depends on the window. On something high or behind furniture it usually is.

Generally yes. A good part of the cost of any job is the visit, the setup and the travel, so doing a whole house at once is better value per window than one room now and another next year. If you are phasing it for budget reasons that is completely fine, just tell us and we will keep your specification on file so later rooms match.

No, the measure is free either way. We measure as standard because if the number is ours, a mistake is ours to fix.
